Road Trip Flashback…

On day one of this mini road trip, after getting lost and then, finally, getting back onto track, we had a brief stop in Casino for a wander around and a leg stretch.

Before I take you for a walk around Tenterfield I will flash back to that brief stop because we met some very interesting people.

Casino is a pleasant country service centre on the Richmond River. It has a large number of interesting historic buildings, which range from Victorian times through to the Art Deco era of the 1930s. Today Casino calls itself ‘The Beef Capital’. It has an official Beef Week which is held each May – the ‘week’ actually lasts for 12 days. With a population of around 12,000 it is a thriving rural centre which relies heavily on the region’s cattle industry combined with the local timber industry.

We had a pleasant half hour wandering around taking photos of the interesting architecture.Tenterfield trip jc 026_4146x3331

Down the back we could see a work room.

We stayed and talked for a while before carrying on to Tenterfield. If you would like to know more, or even buy one of the beautiful toys go here. https://www.tcl.org.au/about/

I think we will have to come back here for a longer visit, one day…

I will link this wander around Casino to Restless Jo and her world-wide band of walkers. Go over here to see where and what they are all doing this week.

  1. That’s a lovely ending, Pauline. Great to give someone a start in life. We all make mistakes. And a week long festival that lasts 12 days has to be a good one. 🙂 🙂 Thanks a lot for sharing.

  2. What a nice little town, the Arts Centre building looks art deco, how perfect. The project is wonderful, such valuable work. There was a similar thing here a few years ago, called CARD – close a revolving door.
